The expertise of the Onay lab is in the field of computational and experimental biochemistry especially in the field of bioenergy production from microalgae in photobioreactors (Biodiesel, bioethanol and biobutanol production) and the modelling and simulation of photobioreactors for microalgae. He works with microalgae, cyanobacteria, and anaerobic photosynthetic bacteria.
